2005 Healthy Hearts and Sea Cruise to Alaska
“Healthy Hearts at Sea” Sets Sail to Alaska and Supports VGH’s Cardiac Care Program
Tiina and Denise recently took a group of 98 passengers to Alaska in conjunction with SeaCourses.
Vancouver, BC –The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation has partnered with Sea Courses Cruises to put on another sailing of Healthy Hearts at Sea – a uniquely enjoyable travel experience, combining the comforts of a world class cruise ship with a great health program.
Taking part in the cruise as our faculty of medical experts will be Dr. Graham Wong, Director of VGH’s Cardiac Care Unit, Dr. Martin Gerretsen, Physician and Director of Continuing Healthy Education for Sea Courses and, Tina Mettala and Denise Wasko, Clinical Exercise Specialists. Biking B.C:
Wine tastings are a fine reward for this bike trip

SUMMERLAND, B.C. — We are 11 reasonably attractive women, but now after a morning of mountain biking in the hot summer sun, we look like hell.
Denise Wasko takes time for a stretch at the
Burrowing Owl Estate Winery near Osoyoos,
one of several Okanagan wineries on the Kettle Valley trail.
Sweat-caked dust covers our skin in a gritty film, leaving blackened streaks in the bends of our elbows and knees. Helmets and heat have rendered our hair into flattened masses on our heads. We are hot, sweaty and thirsty. Click here to read more.
